Good pizza great service
Good Napolitano pizza and friendly staff
Best place for authentic Italian pizza, the staff is very friendly. They also offer takeouts.
Pretty solid Neopolitan pizza, wonderful staff, and decent wine list. Good stuff!
I really wanted to love this place as it was recommended to me by a friend. However sometimes you have to behonest. I'm a traveled pizza man. So here it is:Margherita PizzaCrust: 8 out of 10Cheese: 3 out of 10. We had 2 of these pizza and on both 2-3 pieces had no cheese just sauce.Sauce: 0 out of 10. This sauce was just bad. It tasted like the cheapest you could buy at a grocery store. We also got a side of fries. They were 8 out of 10. I was told this is the best pizza in Kyoto. If this is the case I recommend you skip pizza in this city
These guys know how to make a very epic and good pizza!
Excellent, although not super crispy, pizza. However, it comes at quite a price. Average of 1'800 yen is not super cheap and the pizzas are on the small size. In my opinion they easily make this up with their delicious taste. Even the salad and deserts were very good. Service as to be expected good and only a short wait time.
Awesome pizza and a small but surprisingly good selection of Italian wines. The place nice and cozy, and Yoshi-san and his staff absolutely lovely. We’ll definitely go back to Goichi next time we are in Kyoto.
Wow Goichi Pizza was phenomenal!! Everything was great! If you visit Kyoto definitely come here to eat, staff was very friendly and welcoming spoke English and Italian ! Highly recommend Goichi pizza!!
The pizza was delicious.Since my Japanese is relatively bad we were able to communicate very well in English. The restaurant seemed to be a haunt for foreigners, but I would recommend eating a pizza and having a chat.
Great pizza! Friendly western/european atmosphere.
Good restaurant for authentic italian food. The food is delicious, the staff friendly and can speak a good english (not normal in Japan). Only the price was a little bit high, but for dinnertime ok. I will go there one more time.
Good pizza, If the diavola lacked chicken it would be a teletransportation to Italy. The owner is very friendly, and for a moment you get the feeling that you are not in Kyoto. We had a great time!! Prices are very reasonable.
Awesome pizza and inexpensive. Went in really randomly as I was passing by with my husband at around 5pm before most people have their dinnertime and was fortunate enough to have a table available (they were almost fully booked). English speaking staff was very cordial and welcoming. Would definitely make a trip there again if ever in Osaka/Kyoto region in future!
I liked their food, especially the pizza! The portions were a bit small, but that’s the japanese part I think. I would return!
The food is just as authentic and delicious as food I’ve eaten in Italy and the staff is so accommodating and efficient. What a find!
Great pizza with all ingredients coming from Italy. Owner is super nice and speaks Italian. Pizza chef is from Italy as is the waitress. What a nice treat!
Very tasty, authentic, freshly made pizza and pasta ! Great host and waiting staff ⭐Highly recommended when you need something different to rice or noodles or sushi.....
Like many we were tired of eating just Japanese food and were in need of a good Pizza. This place was really good, excellent Pizza, friendly staff, great service.
Probably the worst service we’ve experienced while in Kyoto. The girl who served us was arrogant and aloof, it honestly seemed like it was a hassle that we were there. The food was actually pretty decent, but definitely expensive for what you get.
Excellent pizza in authentic wood fired oven! Fresh pasta and salads. Super friendly staff. Kid friendly. Definite recommendation while in Kyoto with children 12 and under.
Great experience at Goichi. Was served by Shota who was an absolute pleasure and his English helped us with our options. Their special menu is only written in Japanese and Italian, but the standard menu comes with English. Both the serving of Pizza and Beer is relatively small but all was tasty, so expect one person to manage a whole pizza for themselves.
Great Neapolitan pizza in the middle of Kyoto. Fantastic staff with good service and good English. Well done
Lovely pizza, great service! Would recommend
Food was great. Actual Italian dishes. Staff was very polite and spoke English. Food is about 1500 a person and cocktails were 600. Tiramisu was fantastic and home maid
Extremely tasty pizza if you need a break from traditional Japanese cuisine, although it may cost a little more than you're used to (1500-1800 yen per pie). The owner was extremely nice and had a good conversation with us at the conclusion of our meal.
Excellent service excellent pizza. After being brave on a few traditional Japanese meals in a row, I was pretty hungry. Opted for some pizza at this place and very glad I did. Headed home now with a full belly!
Favorite Italian place in Kyoto, now open 7/1/2020 after a break due to the pandemic. Super casual, lots of families & kids. Pizza to die for; if the pistachio cream pizza is available it may very well change your life. Desserts also a delight.
Wonderful experience! This was the first time I tried pizza in Japan and the staff at goichi were incredibly friendly and helpful. They have a English and Japanese menu and speak fluent English (and italian I think)
Amazing pizza for a small Japanese joint, would definitely come again! I ordered the Mexicano which is a more spicy choice on the menu. When we went a lot of the customers were also foreigners on tour (assuming). Staff all know enough English to make conversation with and will point you to popular picks on the menu. The sadly didn’t have any sake, for good reason, they wish to keep themselves as an Italian focused pizza joint - paraphrasing the waiter.Reasonably priced and orders come out quick, if you’re looking for a good late afternoon/night pizza place to eat at, would highly recommend you give them a try.:)
I would say if you want a little break from the amazing Japanese cuisine available in Japan, this little place makes amazing stone oven pizza (four au bois pour mes amis québécois)!
Great staff, chef and owner! The pizza was very good and as good as any Neapolitan place you’ll generally find. It was a good break from Japanese food and you just can’t go wrong with this pizza!
Fantastic pizza at a lowkey and chill place. Service is great, food is fantastic. Recommend to book a table just in case, it does tend to be packed with people.
Authentic Italian restaurant with a good selection of specialities. The stone oven pizza are quite good as well (the best we had in Japan so far).Though it's a bit pricey compared to your usual Japanese restaurant (to be expected though)
Amazing food and staff. Must visit for an authentic Italian experience!
Oh my hat! Absolutely delicious wood fire oven pizza. It was a really nice and a welcomed change from eating mostly local foods - simple and fresh taste of home.Owner is wonderful! Staff and chef are great - really great Italian vibe.We went there for dinner on a weekday and we were lucky that we didn't need to book - some tables were open.I'm assuming because its across the road from a temple you will need to book in summer and for lunch time. You are also able to get a takeaway if you want. Pizza takes 5 minutes but oven only fits 2 at a time. I'll be back if I get back to Kyoto.
FANTASTIC food, small portions. With that, we loved every bite.
Stopped by randomly. I did not have a pizza as they looked too big for one person, but they do have a stone oven and the pizzas going out looked like the real deal. They also have a good pasta menu. I had a half Caesar and mussels in white wine sauce. Both were very good. I prefer homemade croutons and I like more garlic in my mussels, but much better than I would’ve expected from Italian in Kyoto, Japan. And the service was friendly and fast!
Kick butt pizza and a salad to die for. We were so tired of noodles, rice bowls and sushi when we stumbled upon this slice of heaven (pun intended!) Two thumbs up on the pizza and the friendly service was an added bonus. Loved this place.
Pizza was one of the best I've had and I have eaten a lot! What really made this place awesome was the Japanese host that was fun and funny. He spoke English really well and gave us tips on places to visit which wouldn't be overrun with tourists. Will definitely return for more pizza!
Fantastic Pizza in Kyoto. Don't miss it.We really wanted to get out of the tourist areas for dinner. Looked up "Best Pizza in Kyoto" and Goichi was on top of the list. Easy to find. Great service. Perfect English....and the food. Oy vey. It was great. We had one pesto/mortadella pizza and one with pepperoni/peppers/raisins. Yeah. Raisins. Who the hell puts raisins on a pizza???Goichi does, and it's epic. If you love crafted pizzas, this place is for you.
Delicious oven-fired pizza. The staff was courteous and helpful, and the owner, who speaks fluent English, is a very funny guy. I wish I had a place like this to go to in my neighborhood back in the States. P.S. if you like Lemon Drop candies, try the lemonade cocktail!
Pizza itself was very nice. The place is very simple without much though into decor or atmosphere, but you won't be dissapointed. A bit expensive considering they make smaller size pizzas.
After visiting Italy last year and then eating at this place in Japan, İ can say with confidence that this is authentic. Not only is it authentic (from a Japanese man who speaks Italian and lived in İtaly, no less), but it is delicious! The flavors here are fun, but with some classic choices always available. İt's a small restaurant, with a bar and maybe 6 or 7 tables, but that's exactly the kind of place you want to find in Japan! An expert chef and a great team of servers complete this great pizza spot.
Great food, good service and very friendly English/Italian/Japanese staff
Really friendly staff and pizza was delicious! Beef cheeks was really tender flavorful.
Super friendly staff and great pizza. We were looking for a little break from Japanese food (as much as we love it) and this hit the spot perfectly. Delicious tiramisu too.
Delicious food. Great service. Lively, friendly atmosphere. Relatively expensive though.
Such an unexpectedly amazing little place! We were craving pizza (admittedly feeling a little guilty given that we’re in Japan) and stopped in for dinner. Cozy and cute with incredibly friendly staff, this place was perfect for satisfying our craving. Try the lemonade cocktail- the homemade limoncello is fantastic. You definitely won’t regret straying from sushi and ramen for a night!
Awesome experience. Customer service is above and beyond. Highly recommended to go.
